What does the first session look like?

Typically for the first session I speak the family first.  We go over the paperwork, policies, and I answer questions you may have.  We also talk briefly about what brought you to therapy and what you goals will look like.

How long will my child be in therapy?

This absolutely depends on your child and their needs.  I will be sure to update you along the way.  I touch base with how your child is feeling, as well as how you are feeling about progress and sessions moving forward.  I always encourage clients to bring this up as well if they have any questions or concerns.

How am I involved in therapy?  How will I know what is going on?

Usually I involve parents either in the first few minutes of the session to check in, the last five to ten minutes to discuss the plan moving forward, or sometimes both.  If there is not anything to discuss I will spend most of my time with your child and touch base quickly at the end when we confirm the next appointment.  I always encourage you to give me a heads up if there is something you feel like you need to discuss with me so I can make sure I build time in to the session to accommodate that.  I am open to having family sessions as needed, or sessions with you without your child present as well.  I also have an online portal that some people choose to communicate through as a way of updating me with anything that may be going on.

Do you accept insurance?

I do accept some forms of insurance.  When you contact me I will ask for some of your insurance information to provide you with information regarding whether I accept your insurance and what your co-payment may look like.

What are your fees?

My fee is $150.00 per 50-minute session.  I encourage you to talk directly with your insurance company regarding your out-of-network benefits.  You can ask about your coverage for CPT codes: 90791, 90837, 90846, and 90847.

What if I can’t make it to the session? What is your cancellation policy?

I have a 24-hour notice cancellation policy.  If you have to cancel the appointment in less than 24-hours you will be charged a fee of $100.00.  We will discuss this policy in further detail at your first appointment.
